About
Oskar Jones is a London based musician who’s sound seeps deep below superficiality, expressed through contemplative yet lyrical melodies influenced by modal music from an array of musical and cultural sources. Having studied both jazz saxophone and classical piano from a young age, Oskar unifies both practices within his compositions and improvisation, which explore the emotions and feelings present as a result of the change experienced in the phenomenon of travelling from one place to another, whether physically or mentally.
Oskar has performed in a range of contexts across the UK, from grassroots jazz venues and art galleries to the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues, Dundee Jazz, and Kelburn Garden Party festivals, as well as more renowned spaces such as St Giles Cathedral, Pizza Express Holborn and the Southbank Centre’s Clore Ballroom. Upon graduating from The University of Edinburgh with a 1st Class Hons in Music in 2023 he received the Andrew Grant Bequest Prize for Portfolio of Compositions from the Edinburgh College of Art, and the Bucher-Fraser Scholarship for continued study from the Reid School of Music. In 2024 he received funding from Help Musicians to continue his postgraduate jazz studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
